Is it fair to say that things are a little stressful right now? I mean, with everything from constant uncertainty, to wildfire smoke and rising social unrest, it’s hard to stay afloat in the heavy waters of today’s world. And, the thing is, when life’s weighing us down, it’s easy to get cranky and snap at others, spreading negative energy around like a cancer.
But we don’t have to make things harder. We don’t have to amplify the negative vibes that many of us have become all too familiar with these days. There is the option of lightening the load for everyone by dishing out a little kindness. Kindness not only squashes negative energy, but it makes the world a little brighter for everyone, especially those who are struggling.
That said, if you need a little inspiration, below are ten of our best quotes on kindness to get you started!
Quote 1: I heard someone say, “Don’t cross oceans for people who wouldn’t cross a puddle for you.”
Which I thought was good advice.
But then someone else spoke up and said, “No. Do it. Do cross oceans for people. Love all people. No conditions attached. No wondering whether or not they are worthy. Cross oceans, climb mountains. Life and love aren’t about what you gain, they’re about what you give.”
And I changed my mind.
Quote 2: Today, in that staff lunch room, at that gas station pump, in that grocery store line up, you could be standing next to someone who is trying their best not to fall apart. So, whatever you do today, please do it with kindness.
Quote 3: “Why are you so nice, even to people who are rude to you?”
“Because I, too, have been rude to nice people, and I know that rudeness comes from a place of roaring pain.
And only kindness soothes it.”
Quote 4: Not every day is a good day, live anyway. Not everyone will tell you the truth, be honest anyway. Not all deals are fair, play fair anyway. Not all you love will love you back, love anyway.
Quote 5: The strongest people are the ones who are still kind after the world tore them apart.
Quote 6: I don’t care what you have. I don’t care what your house looks like, or what brand your shoes are. I don’t care what kind of church you go to, what party you vote for, or how long it’s been since you washed your hair. I care how you treat people, how you love those who can do nothing for you.
Quote 7: There’s a saying that goes, “hurt people will hurt people.” But I rarely hear the opposite, “Healed people, heal people.”
Get healed.
Then, go heal.
Quote 8: The only meaningful thing we can offer one another is love. Not advice, not questions about our choices, not suggestions for the future, just love.
Quote 9: Life is short. You don’t know when it’s going to end, so tell your loved ones how much they mean to you every day. Be grateful and appreciative. Focus less on what you don’t have and more on what you do.
Quote 10: So, if you are too tired to speak, sit next to me, because I, too, am fluent in silence.
