Therapy

At Youth Dynamics our goal is to provide treatment for kids with behavioral challenges and offer support and resources to families. We understand that accessing therapy can be difficult in many locations around Montana. At Youth Dynamics we are proud to offer a wide range of therapy services at all of our locations.

Individual therapy

The therapist and child that aims to facilitate change and improve their quality of life at home, school, and in the community. For children and adolescents, significant life events can cause stress that might lead to problems with behavior, mood, sleep, appetite, and academic or social functioning. Events such as:

  • diagnosis of genetic disorders
  • effects of inconsistent parenting and modeling
  • a divorce
  • a family move or relocation
  • change of schools
  • physical abuse
  • sexual abuse
  • verbal abuse
  • neglect
  • trauma
  • a major illness in the family
  • the death of a family member/friend/pet

Individual therapy is known to help kids cope with, and overcome, life stresses that interfere with their emotional, behavioral, and mental well-being.

Family Therapy With Youth

The therapist, a youth, and their family that aims to help the family improve communication, solve family problems, understand and handle family situations, and create a better functioning home environment and relationships . Family therapy with the youth present does NOT focus on the behaviors and symptoms of the youth or any individual family member.

Family Therapy WITHOUT Youth

The therapist for an assigned youth and their family that provides parenting skills training that aims to help the family manage the youth’s emotional and behavioral symptoms. And to help facilitate change and improve the youth’s quality of life at home, school, and in the community.

Group Therapy

Involves exploring personal and group dynamics of up to 8 youth who may or may not have similar issues. The therapist provides activities that facilitate interactions with the goal of increasing the youths’ insight.  These interactions typically reflect the current issues in the youths’ lives and help them work through dynamics that have emerged at home, at school, and in the community.

Crisis Therapy

Occurs when a youth’s problem is life threatening or complicated and requires immediate attention to resolve a the situation. Service for a crisis may often include the following:

  • Risk assessment and evaluation
  • Mental Status Exam
  • Brief therapy
  • Crisis management
  • Follow up services
  • 30 – 74 minutes of face-to-face intervention with the youth and/or parent/caregiver devoted to the youth’s needs during the crisis
